Critical Data Centre Cooling Upgrade for Media Client Case Study

Averys were appointed as main contractor, delivering both the electrical and mechanical scope for a critical data centre cooling upgrade supporting a major media client. The project was undertaken within a highly sensitive, live operational environment, where continuity of service and system resilience were paramount.

works involved were the installation of DX downflow cooling units within the data centre, alongside the construction of a dedicated internal cold room designed to house external condenser units. This approach enabled enhanced cooling performance while overcoming site and environmental constraints.

In parallel, Avery completed a new electrical mains upgrade and modified the existing Building Management System (BMS) to ensure seamless integration and precise environmental control. All installations were carefully phased and coordinated to mitigate risk and maintain stability within the live environment.

Through detailed project planning, coordination and disciplined execution, the upgrade was delivered safely and effectively, strengthening the resilience and performance of the client’s data centre infrastructure. The project demonstrates Avery’s ability to manage technically complex, mission‑critical upgrades while acting as a single point of responsibility for combined electrical and mechanical delivery.
